Multichannel measurement in practice – Shaft Generators under the microscope!

During our recent service, we used our 16-channel measurement system to analyze critical drivetrain components on a vessel that has been struggling with shaft generator failures for the past two years (frequent bearing replacements, unexpected downtimes).
Scope of work included:
Measurement of Port Side and Starboard Side drivetrains (main engine, gearbox, stern tube, shaft generator) – performed separately for each side, covering a range from 15% to 90% propeller pitch
Synchronous multichannel measurement of both shaft generators operating simultaneously – following the same procedure as for the main drivetrains
Additionally: a diagnostic session using our new Marvib DC 808 device, covering drivetrains, thrusters, and several rotating machines – as a complementary extension to the main scope
By combining measurement precision with flexible service execution, we provide our clients with actionable insights for informed maintenance decisions.
